Notes: |
Hermes sacrificed a ram at a cairn of stones. The Naukydes statue with the ram's skin (and head) is known best from a statue found at Troizen, a copy of his bronze statue of this kind. Naukydes was a pupil and a nephew, it is thought, of Polykleitos, so the date is ca. 400BC or so. |
